PCAudioLabs was formed early in 2000 by Thomas Bolton and Fred Rosenbloom. At
the time, they were both working at Steinberg North America in the technical
department and they noticed a great need for more educational tools for music
production. With a video camera and a desire to inform, they started making in
depth tutorial guides to some of the biggest software products in music production.
The company was a huge success but it quickly became apparent that even if
people knew how to use their software, it wouldn’t be of much help if the computer they were trying to use it on didn’t do its job.
PCAudioLabs built their first custom DAW for world renowned Engineer/Producer Mark Howard and within months they were the hottest system builders in the country. Besides the enormous list of pro users that have chosen PCAudioLabs, AMD, Intel and Microsoft have all turned to PCAudioLabs whenever they have audio needs.
In 2007, PCAudioLabs tripled in size, moving into a new location and increasing staff to meet demand. By NAMM 2008, PCAudioLabs was not only the supplier of PC’s for music software giants Steinberg and Cakewalk, but also hardware manufacturers such as Roland, Yamaha and Euphonix.
Although our task is technical, we know our staff needs to be able to relate to you and your situation. That’s why not only are the people who will build your system experts in computing, they are also musicians. Thomas Bolton, Content Director
Tom loves to help people and find solutions, which is why he was an instrumental contributor to Steinberg and Native Instruments before forming PCAudioLabs. Tom has managed to fuse the technical and creative in such a way that they almost become the same thing.
Besides his knowledge of computers, Tom is a synth geek to the 9th power - not the “I know how to use Reaktor” synth geek, but a true collector and aficionado. He uses this passion for the history of electronic music to interpret and adapt to it’s future.

Gregory Butler, Managing Director
With an understanding of the pressures of the market place and the studio, Gregory is the perfect person to make sure that PCAudioLabs continues it’s incredible growth without losing sight of the service and integrity that PCAL has become famous for. Since coming on board, Gregory has expanded PCAudioLabs into retail with the creation of the Rok Box line, now available at over 250 stores nationwide as well as establishing a strong presence in the academic community.

Fred Rosenbloom, Technical Director
Fred is a no-nonsense IT expert and problem solver. After graduating UC San Diego (minoring in Music Technology) and earning a degree as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Fred quickly combined his love of music with his computing expertise by joining the staff at Steinberg North America. At PCAudioLabs, he has helped thousands through his research and support, establishing himself as a leading voice in the music community on technology matters.
